Interior Design Fee Structure

Many fears and misunderstandings are generated by the different way interior designers charge for what appears to be a similar service. An important part of our policy is to offer a no-obligation first meeting for a total budget of £50,000 + that is completely free of charge . You can test the water without any risk and if you decline our services we promise not to hound you.

Initial Meeting – Free of charge total budget £50,000 +

An interior designer will travel to see you at your premises and spend some time investigating your requirements, discussing your personal situation and answering your questions about our services. Meetings in and around London are usually possible within a few days of enquiry. Meetings further a-field for smaller commissions may be subject to some delay depending on the current company workload. Meetings outside the M25 will be subject to disbursement charges.

Subsequent Meetings – £90 ex VAT minimum – £90 ex VAT per hour pro rata.

The first meeting will end with the interior designer having several ideas about the direction of the design. A second meeting will be scheduled where an outline of the colour scheme, materials and overall feel of the design will be presented. This will be followed by other meetings (as necessary) until all aspects of the design are agreed upon. The designer will then produce and deliver a sampleboard for each room of all agreed fabrics, wall finishes and floor coverings. Additionally, pencil sketch plans and elevations will be provided to illustrate the design suggestions.

Design Fee

As quoted from £795 ex VAT per room, including sampleboard (minimum design fee for any one commission is £1,192.50 ex VAT). The design fee covers sourcing of all fabrics, wall and floorcoverings, acquisition of samples and brochures and standard room survey. Our interior designer will use their design skills and training to create the design with which you will spend many happy years. Technically this is the sale of intellectual property. The items sourced here provide the main character of the design. You will be supplied with a sampleboard that illustrates the design elements using actual samples of the materials specified.  Additionally, the interior designer will supply pencil sketch plans and elevations for each room to illustrate the design, as well as colour rendered window treatment sketches if required.The design fee starts from £795 ex VAT per room although the precise charge for any one commission will be subject to a quotation following the first meeting. We charge competitive prices for all materials. NB: Payment of the design fee is not dependent on progression of the project.
